An Intro to Angie's Lists: Fashion & Food
My first Substack Post, an intro of what's to come.
As someone who recently discovered Substack, I haven't had the chance to analyze other creator’s posts or how this goes, but I thought I could introduce what I plan on talking about. I also want to preface all of this by saying I am by no means a writer, I just happen to have lots of opinions, thoughts and Lists to share when it comes to Food & Fashion.
Also, I’m just kind of going for it here and not making a plan of what I’m going to post. I’ve read so many times that it’s just better to start something than to wait for it to be perfect…
So here goes, just starting…
GET HANGRY continued… Food has always had a special place in my life. I am definitely one of those people who live to heat. My favorite pastime is going to a new restaurant and trying multiple things on the menu. In a perfect world, I would be going to all the restaurant openings and critique the menu and restaurant itself.
In 2015 I started a food blog on Instagram called Get Hangry. I took photos and created content around my favorite foods and the restaurants I would go to. I enjoy connecting with people about restaurants and sharing my favorite foods.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HANGRY?
han·gry/ˈhaNGɡrē/Learn to pronounce adjective INFORMAL
bad-tempered or irritable as a result of hunger. "I get very hangry if I miss a meal"
The Goal of Get Hangry was to make you so mad that you weren't eating the same meal I was eating that you would immediately run to the restaurant and try the meal yourself. Very aligned with the hashtags I used, #GetHangry #YouMadYet
Why did such a fun food blog end? I felt bad criticizing restaurants on such an open platform. Granted, who knows which restaurant owners would look at my critiques. However, the entire reason I started @gethangry was to leave an honest review. This is why I never reposted other people’s food, I wanted to curate an honest opinion that I could talk about with people.
So fastword to the present, a friend (Shoutout to Marie McGrath) suggested that I create a substack to candidly share my restaurant recommendations on an open platform.
And in thinking of other things I could write about….
… I realized I like to look at clothes quite a lot and have been following more and more influencers creating different lists for myself when it comes to organizing my closet. I’ve been making lists for my “Capsule Wardrobe” and when I decided to start my luxury handbag collection, I also attacked this as an in depth analysis. There seem to be a few things I can share about when it comes to Food & Fashion.
So anywhooo, here we go, let’s see how this Substack evolves.
